Operating System:   (Note: might work with other versions of this os.)

Driver Update

File: COUFLASH_1_.exe

Comments:

IBM IBM Aptiva 2134, 2159 and 2176 Driver. ****THIS IS THE CORRECTED VERSION OF A CDROM ARCHIVE I HAVE OF THESE FILES. I UPLOADED AN EARLIER VERSION AT ANOTHER LINK, THINKING IT WAS THE UPDATED VERSION AS I WAS TOO LAZY TO PULL OUT THE DISK AND WENT TO IBM FTP SITE INSTEAD (ftp://ftp.pc.ibm.com/pub/ps1aptiva/update_files/bios/), WHICH ACTUALLY HAD THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF THE BIOS, NOT THE UPDATED ONE. THIS IS THE FEBRUARY 1999 UPDATE. SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION****

This flash BIOS update is for use on miscellaneous IBM 2134, 2159 and 2176 Aptiva systems. It installs BIOS level BSTxx4I (BSTUS4I on US systems) on Aptivas with the A-2 motherboard and the ATI 3D Rage graphics chipset and level BFLxx4N (BFLUS4N on US systems) on Aptivas with the A-1 motherboard and the SiS graphics chipset.

2134-C21 SiS BFLUS4N 2/11/99

2176-Cxx ATI Rage BSTUS4I 2/11/99

2176-Cxx SiS BFLUS4N 2/11/99

2159-Sxx ATI Rage BSTUS4I 2/11/99

NOTE: Some users with with drives larger than 4.2GB experienced problems with the 1/22/99 release of COUFLASH (BST_4H/BFL_4M) which resulted in IBM pulling that file briefly and reissuing a debugged version on 2/11/99 (This file).

More Information:

-----------------

This update adds the following modifications to both the BSTxx4I and BFLxx4M BIOS builds contained within COUFLASH:

Added DVD identification

Fixed timings for DMA modes

Added LBA seek command support

Fixed return codes for INT 13H Extension failures

Set up interrupt vectors if any drive is connected

Don't wait for reset on warm boot

Fixed ATAPI drive detection issues

Set default parallel port mode to extended capabilities port (ECP)

Don't spin up disks coming out of Standby

Fixed check for real-time clock (RTC) update-in-progress

Added checks for RTC update-in-progress in power management

Updated timer tick Y2K rollover algorithm

(NOTE: This file is a self extracting disk image created by WinImage. I did it this way because the original file could only make the bootdisk under windows 9x. For those with windows NT/2000 or higher, the original file would not work for making a boot disk. This WinImage file will make the boot disk under any version of windows.)
